BCME VISD

Victoria Independent School District (VISD) has once again been recognized for its commitment to and support of music education. For the 6th consecutive year, Victoria ISD has received the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation.

The Best Communities for Music Education designation was awarded to over 1,000 schools and districts across the United States that have demonstrated a strong commitment to music education.

The NAMM Foundation's BCME Award is a signature program of The NAMM Foundation that recognizes and celebrates school districts and schools in the United States for the outstanding efforts of teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders, and their support for music education as an essential part of a well-rounded education.

To qualify for the BCME designation, Victoria ISD answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.

“This recognition is a testament to the teachers and district’s ongoing dedication to providing quality music education opportunities for its students,” said VISD Director of Fine Arts David Edge. “The recognition also is in line with the VISD Fine Arts Mission: To Provide ALL Students in VISD the Learning Opportunity for Creative Artistic Expression, Self-Confidence, Leadership Skills, Collaboration Skills, and Performance Excellence, Through an Innovative Fine Arts Curriculum that Supports Their Family, the District, and Community of Victoria. The schools and districts recognized by the BMCE designation serve as a model for others to follow.”
