Victoria Independent School District Named a "Best of the Bunch" Winner in the 2023 Farm Fresh Challenge

The Victoria Independent School District (VISD) is proud to announce its recognition as a "Best of the Bunch" awardee in the Texas Department of Agriculture’s 2023 Farm Fresh Challenge, a statewide initiative celebrating Texas agriculture and its vital role in our schools and communities.

The Farm Fresh Challenge honors schools and districts committed to serving Texas-grown foods, enriching student learning with agricultural education, and engaging the community through social awareness.

Victoria ISD stood out in this year's challenge, embodying the "Eat Local, Teach Local, and Be Social" ethos. Our district's efforts in sourcing fresh, locally-grown foods for our cafeterias have not only supported Texas farmers and ranchers but also contributed significantly to the strengthening of our local economy.

This recognition aligns perfectly with the strategic plan of our district, emphasizing our commitment to community engagement and educational excellence. By participating in the Farm Fresh Challenge, VISD has taken a significant step in ensuring that our students not only receive nutritious meals but also gain valuable knowledge about the source of their food and the hard work of our local agricultural community.

We extend our gratitude to the Texas Department of Agriculture for this honor and to all the staff, students, and community partners who made our participation in the Farm Fresh Challenge a success. Victoria ISD remains dedicated to fostering connections between the classroom and our community, ensuring our students understand and appreciate the vital role agriculture plays in our lives.
